LET'S BACK UP A BIT To my early 20s, post my first major breakup.
I FOUND MYSELF STUCK IN BED FOR DAYS (HONESTLY, MAYBE WEEKS) WITH A BROKEN HEART.
I’ll never forget one day something bigger than myself brought me to search for yoga studios near me. That’s when I got myself up and I went to my first hot yoga class. During that class, I cried, I sweat, I cried some more, and I found a safe space to move, feel and heal. It felt like coming home to myself. A year later, I started my first Yoga Teacher Training.
That first yoga class is my origin story and why I teach movement and mindfulness practices today. Movement has always been my anchor, not just for physical strength, but for my mental, emotional and spiritual health + well-being.
Even though I was in my teacher training, I didn’t think I’d become an instructor. I had graduated from Laurier with a Communications degree, so naturally I thought I’d become a copywriter or marketing maverick, but after a few years working a 9-5, I quickly realized that life wasn’t for me.
So I moved to Toronto to pursue teaching yoga. By day I taught, and by night I worked in a very intense, high-end restaurant.
The physical and mental demands of my schedule led to an inevitable burnout, only finding relief from the closures of the pandemic.
Once studios re-opened, I went full-time as an instructor. I was teaching yoga, Pilates, and reformer one-on-one and in corporate sessions across the city.
And it was during this time that my best friend and I co-founded THETA Movement—my proudest creation. THETA was a safe space for feel-good movement and a warm and inviting community (something that was seriously missing in Toronto).
By the end of 2023, city life burned me out (again) and I knew it was time for a real change. I sold most of my things, we closed our physical studio space, and I moved to PEC in search of nature, space, and a stronger sense of community.
Now, I’ve never felt more aligned and at peace, and I credit this to my commitment to my practices.
Yoga and Pilates were my gateway to building more self-awareness and trusting myself to be able to make big life changes.
I believe that an awake and aligned life is within reach with a few simple and enjoyable practices, and it's available to everyone.
This is why I do what I do—to help you find your inner strength and learn to trust yourself so you can show up and take control of your life on your own terms.
